Q. Do the phones work everywhere?
A. Currently 98% of the U.S. is covered by wireless analog cellular service. So anywhere an analog cell phone works, Magnavox MobilePal+GPS Phones will work too. And you can always check to see whether you're in an area with available analog cellular service simply by pressing the test button found on each phone.
Q. How do I keep my phone charged?
A. You don't. Each Magnavox MobilePal+GPS Phone runs on store bought batteries. That means you can take it anywhere and never have to worry about it being ready or charged when you need it to be. We recommend that you replace the batteries once a year, as you would with your smoke detectors.
Q. How loud is the 95-decibel siren?
A. Somewhere between a subway train (80 decibels) and a nearby jet taking off (110 decibels).
Q. How long will I be able to talk on my phone?
A. Each phone has approximately 45-60 minutes of talk time before the batteries will need to be replaced. We recommend you test your batteries once a year. After pressing the test/siren button for 1 second, the battery light will flash if batteries are low. The beeping sound will also continue.
Q. How big are the phones?
A. Each of the phones is smaller and lighter than many cell phones, each weighs six ounces or less and they are only 6" tall. They fit easily into the palm of your hand and in a purse or backpack. They also come with a convenient belt clip.
Q. What is the Warranty?
A. Each phone comes with a 90-day manufacturer's warranty that begins on the date of your purchase. The phone is warranted to be free from defects in materials and workmanship, but if you have a defective phone, you will be given a return authorization code and the address to which the phone may be sent. Q. How does the MobilePal+GPS phone work?
A. Whenever you need immediate assistance, you simply press the large red "CALL" button. This powers on the phone
and places a voice call via a nationwide network of analog cell towers. Your call is then quickly routed to our PAL
Services Center, enabling you to speak with one of our trained, Personal Assistants, who will greet you, and ask what
type of assistance is needed (Police, Fire, Medical, Roadside Assistance) and if you are aware of your location. If you
do not know your location, your Personal Assistant will determine if your location can be found with your phone's GPS
location tracking technology. With the purchase of the Magnavox MobilePal+GPS device your location information can be
sent to emergency services personnel or used by a Personal Assistant to provide you with accurate location based services.
Q. What is GPS?
A. GPS stands for Global Positioning System. When the MobilePal+GPS is outdoors it can receive signals from a constellation of 3 out of 12 satellites orbiting in space. By using these signals, your location can be pinpointed to within 30 feet. If you do not know your location during an emergency, your Personal Assistants can remotely activate your phone's GPS (global position system) feature to find your location. When activated, your MobilePal+GPS sends your latitude and longitude coordinates to the PAL Services Center via the nationwide analog cellular network, where your location appears on the Personal Assistant's computer screen within minutes. Your Peronsal Assistant can then immediately contact the nearest emergency services agency (police, fire, or ambulance), or your roadside assistance provider, and give them your exact location.
Q. How long does it take to get a location fix?
A. It varies. It can take as little as under 1 minute or up to 3 minutes. Also, you must be outdoors with an unobstructed view of the sky during the location tracking operation.

Q. Can I be billed directly every month?
A. A credit card or debit from a checking account is required for all monthly service payments. You can be billed in the mail for a small additional fee.
Q. If all my emergency calls are free, what exactly is an emergency?
A. An emergency is when immediate police, fire department, medical assistance, or roadside assistance (flat tire, lock-out, dead battery, accident, etc.) is necessary. Call the PAL Services Center whenever you believe there is an emergency.
Q. Can I use my MobilePal+GPS™ for roadside assistance?
A. Yes. The Personal Assistants will dispatch your provider for lockouts and tows or any other roadside assistance service. If you currently have an agreement with a roadside service provider, when you call into our PAL Services Center we will contact this provider and get them on the phone with you to arrange service. These calls are always free.
